The Meaning Behind Crazy Wisdom

The origin of the term “crazy wisdom” is a 1972 coinage by Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche. In 2011, the documentary Crazy Wisdom screened at the Boulder International Film Festival, facilitating a meeting between Michael M. Conti and the director Johanna Demetrakas. Her film examines the introduction of Tibetan Buddhism to Western culture through the narrative of Chögyam Trungpa, documenting the specific historical energy of that period.
